How to Upgrade to Pro Plan on Carrd
Log into your Carrd Dashboard, click your Account avatar, select Change, choose your desired Pro plan (Lite at $9/year, Standard at $19/year, or Plus at $49/year), and complete payment via credit card or PayPal. The entire process takes 5-10 minutes and your plan activates immediately.
Prerequisites
- An active Carrd account (free or paid)
- At least one site created (optional but recommended)
- Valid payment method: credit/debit card, PayPal, or account balance
- Stable internet connection and desktop browser
- Knowledge of which Pro plan suits your needs (Lite, Standard, or Plus)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Open Your Carrd Dashboard
Log in to your Carrd account and navigate to the Dashboard. This is your central hub for managing all account settings and sites.
Access Account Settings
Click your Account avatar located in the corner of the Dashboard. This opens your account menu where plan management options are available.
Initiate Plan Change
In the account menu, click the Change button under the plan management section. This launches the plan selection interface.
Select Your Desired Pro Plan
Choose from three Pro options: Pro Lite ($9/year, up to 3 sites), Pro Standard ($19/year, up to 10 sites with custom domains and forms), or Pro Plus ($49/year, up to 25 sites with advanced features like custom forms, advanced settings, and source code downloads). Click Select Plan to proceed.
Review Pricing Adjustments
If upgrading to a higher-cost plan, Carrd automatically applies a one-time discount based on remaining time on your current plan. For example, if 6 months remain on Pro Standard ($19/year), you receive approximately $10 off when upgrading to Pro Plus. If downgrading, a one-time balance credit is applied instead.
Enter Payment Method
If a balance is due, select your payment method. For credit/debit card, manually enter your card details (avoid using your browser's auto-fill function, as this can cause form submission issues). For PayPal, use the provided PayPal buttons to authenticate and complete payment.
Enable Auto-Renewal (Optional)
Check the Automatically renew my plan before its end date checkbox to enable yearly auto-renewal. This is 100% optional and can be toggled on or off at any time. If unchecked, you pay as you go without automatic charges.
Save Payment Method (Optional)
If paying with a credit/debit card and want to avoid re-entering details for future renewals, check Save this payment method. This stores your card securely in your account and is strongly recommended if you've enabled auto-renewal.
Confirm and Complete Upgrade
Click Change Plan (for card or account balance payment) or use the PayPal buttons to finalize your upgrade. Your plan updates immediately, and you gain access to all features of your chosen tier right away.
Verify Access to New Features
Return to your Dashboard and confirm that new features are now available. For example, Pro Standard users can now use custom domains and forms, while Pro Plus users unlock advanced forms, custom settings, and source code downloads. If you don't see expected features, try refreshing your browser or logging out and back in.
Common Issues & Troubleshooting
Payment is rejected or I see an error during checkout
Retry in a private/incognito browser tab to bypass cache issues. If the error persists, try a different browser or device. Ensure your card details are entered manually without auto-fill. Contact Carrd support if the problem continues across multiple attempts.
I upgraded from a trial but can't access a feature I had before
The free trial includes a mix of all Pro features, but your chosen plan (e.g., Pro Lite) may not include all of them. Switch to a higher-tier plan (e.g., Standard or Plus) and pay the prorated difference for the remaining time on your current billing cycle.
I want to downgrade my plan but get a blocking message
Downgrade is blocked if your sites use features exclusive to higher tiers (e.g., custom domains on Pro Lite, advanced forms on Pro Standard). Remove or modify those features first, then retry the downgrade. A one-time balance credit will be applied for unused time.
Auto-renewal didn't work and my plan expired
Check that your saved payment method is valid and not expired. Re-enable auto-renewal in your Account settings and ensure the checkbox is saved. If your card was declined, update it in your payment methods and manually renew, or contact support for assistance.
I don't see the Change button in my Account menu
Ensure you're logged in and viewing the full Dashboard (not a site editor). Refresh the page or clear your browser cache. If the button still doesn't appear, try a different browser or contact Carrd support for account access issues.
