How to Activate Elementor Pro License
Install the free Elementor plugin first, then upload and activate the Elementor Pro ZIP file from your WordPress dashboard. Navigate to Plugins and click Connect & Activate, then log in with your Elementor account credentials to activate your license.
Prerequisites
- Free Elementor plugin installed and activated
- Elementor Pro ZIP file downloaded from my.elementor.com
- WordPress admin access with plugin management permissions
- Valid Elementor Pro license purchased
- Stable internet connection
Step-by-Step Instructions
Log into WordPress Admin Dashboard
Access your WordPress site by navigating to yoursite.com/wp-admin and log in using your admin credentials. This gives you access to the plugin management area where you can install and activate Elementor Pro.
Verify Free Elementor is Installed and Activated
Elementor Pro requires the free Elementor plugin to function. Go to Plugins > Installed Plugins and confirm that Elementor (the free version) is listed and shows as Active. If not installed, go to Plugins > Add New, search for Elementor Website Builder, click Install Now, then Activate.
Upload Elementor Pro Plugin File
Navigate to Plugins > Add New in your WordPress dashboard. Click Upload Plugin at the top of the page. Click Choose File, select your downloaded Elementor Pro ZIP file (e.g., elementor-pro-3.x.x.zip), and click Install Now.
Activate Elementor Pro Plugin
After the installation completes, click the Activate Plugin button. You will be taken to the Plugins page where you should now see both Elementor and Elementor Pro listed as active plugins.
Click Connect & Activate Button
On the Plugins page, you should see a Connect & Activate banner or button for Elementor Pro. Click this button to initiate the license connection process. This is the recommended method according to official Elementor documentation.
Log Into Your Elementor Account
A connection window will appear asking you to verify your Elementor account. Check the default username displayed (typically your Elementor account email, e.g., your@email.com). If this is incorrect, click Switch User and log in to the correct Elementor account at my.elementor.com.
Select Your Subscription and Activate
If you have multiple Elementor Pro subscriptions, a dropdown menu will appear. Select the subscription you want to connect to this website. Click Connect & Activate (or Activate my license) to complete the activation process.
Verify License Activation Status
Navigate to Elementor > License in your WordPress admin sidebar. Confirm that your license status shows Active with a green indicator. You should also see your account email and subscription details displayed on this page.
Test Pro Features Access
Create a new page or edit an existing one by clicking Edit with Elementor. In the Elementor editor, scroll down to the Elementor Pro section in the left panel. You should now see access to premium widgets, theme builder options, and other pro features. If these are unavailable, try refreshing your browser or clearing your cache.
Common Issues & Troubleshooting
Connect & Activate button does not appear or is unresponsive
Ensure Elementor Pro is installed and activated (the License menu only appears when Pro is active). Verify you are logged in as a WordPress Administrator. Update both Elementor and Elementor Pro to the latest versions. If the button appears but does nothing, temporarily disable popup/ad blockers or try a different browser or incognito window.
Plugin dependency error: Required plugins are missing or inactive
WordPress 6.5+ requires the core Elementor plugin to be in the default folder /wp-content/plugins/elementor/. Delete Elementor from its current location and reinstall it from the WordPress.org plugin repository, which will place it in the correct default folder. Then reactivate Elementor Pro.
Invalid redirect URI or security check error on staging sites
Staging sites often have different URLs than production, causing authentication failures. Use WP-CLI manual activation instead: run wp elementor license activate YOUR_LICENSE_KEY from your site root, replacing YOUR_LICENSE_KEY with your key from my.elementor.com > My Subscriptions.
License shows as inactive or exceeded site limit
Go to Elementor > License > Disconnect, clear your browser cookies or use an incognito window, and retry activation. If you've exceeded your site limit, upgrade your Elementor Pro plan to activate on additional sites. Verify you're using the correct Elementor account that purchased the license.
Pro features are not visible in the editor
Confirm that the free Elementor plugin is active first. Refresh your browser and clear the cache. Go to Elementor > License and verify the status shows Active. If still unavailable, deactivate and reactivate Elementor Pro, then retry the Connect & Activate process.
