How to customize background settings on Screen Studio
Screen Studio allows you to customize backgrounds by accessing the Background panel in the editing interface. You can choose from solid colors, gradients, or upload custom images to replace your screen recording background.
Prerequisites
- Screen Studio installed on your Mac
- Basic familiarity with Screen Studio interface
- Video project already created
- Access to background images or colors you want to use
Step-by-Step Instructions
Open your Screen Studio project
Access the Background settings
Cmd + Shift + I to open the inspector panel.Choose your background type
- None - Transparent background
- Color - Solid color background
- Gradient - Two-color gradient
- Image - Custom background image
Customize color backgrounds
Add custom background images
Adjust background properties
- Opacity - Make background more or less transparent
- Blur - Add blur effect to background images
- Brightness - Adjust background brightness
Preview and apply changes
Export with custom background
Common Issues & Troubleshooting
Background settings panel is not visible
Press Cmd + Shift + I to open the inspector panel, or go to View > Show Inspector in the menu bar.
Custom background image appears pixelated or blurry
Use a higher resolution image (minimum 1920x1080) and ensure the image format is PNG or JPG. Avoid upscaling small images.
Background changes don't appear in preview
Make sure you have the correct layer selected in the timeline. Try refreshing the preview by pressing Cmd + R or restart Screen Studio.
Exported video shows original background instead of custom one
Verify that background changes were applied before exporting. Check the Background tab is still active and re-apply settings if necessary before exporting again.
