How to Enable White Label on SE Ranking
White Label on SE Ranking requires an Agency Pack subscription and involves customizing your interface branding, connecting a custom domain via CNAME DNS record, configuring SMTP for branded emails, and setting up white-label reports. The core setup takes 30-60 minutes, plus 24-48 hours for domain propagation.
Prerequisites
- Agency Pack subscription or higher plan
- Custom domain with DNS control access
- SMTP server credentials (e.g., Gmail with app password)
- Branding assets: logo (PNG/SVG) and color hex codes
- Full account owner permissions in SE Ranking
Step-by-Step Instructions
Access the White Label Tab
Log in to your SE Ranking dashboard and navigate to the White Label tab. You can access it in two ways: click your profile icon in the top-right corner and select White Label from the account menu, or locate it in the left-hand side menu under the Agency Pack section. Verify that your subscription includes the Agency Pack, as White Label is not available on standard plans.
Enable White Label and Review Defaults
Once in the White Label tab, toggle the feature on if it's not already active. Review the current defaults: SE Ranking branding is applied by default, standard SMTP is configured, and Live Help and Feedback widgets are enabled on the login page. The tab displays all customization options available without requiring any server installation. Understand that enabling White Label will customize the entire interface to your brand across all client sessions.
Upload Logo and Set Brand Colors
In the White Label tab, locate the branding section and upload your logo. Use PNG or SVG format with recommended dimensions of 200x50 pixels. Next, set your brand colors by entering hex codes for primary and secondary colors (e.g., #FF5733 for primary). These colors will replace SE Ranking's default blue throughout the interface, including buttons, headers, and accents. Preview the changes in real-time to ensure they match your brand identity.
Customize Login Page Elements
Configure your login page by toggling the Live Help and Feedback widgets on or off based on your preferences. By default, both are enabled. You can also choose to remove or keep footer links that reference SE Ranking. If you want to completely remove SE Ranking branding, disable the footer links. These settings ensure that clients see only your branding when they access the platform.
Connect Your Custom Domain
Navigate to the Personalize Your Domain Name subsection within White Label. Enter your custom domain (e.g., seo.youragency.com). SE Ranking will provide you with a CNAME record to add to your DNS provider. Log in to your domain registrar or DNS hosting panel and create a new CNAME record: set the subdomain (e.g., seo) to point to wl.seranking.com. The exact syntax is seo IN CNAME wl.seranking.com with a default TTL of 3600 seconds. After adding the record, return to the SE Ranking dashboard and click the verify button.
Configure SMTP for Branded Emails
In the White Label Email Configuration section, switch from the default SE Ranking SMTP to your custom SMTP server. Enter your SMTP details: the server address and port (e.g., smtp.gmail.com:587 for Gmail), your email username, and your password or app-specific password. For Gmail, enable two-factor authentication and generate an app password rather than using your main password. Set the From Email field to your branded email address (e.g., seo-reports@youragency.com). Click the test button to verify the connection before saving.
Customize Email Templates and Branding
Still in the Email Configuration section, customize the email templates that clients will receive. Upload your company logo, enter your company name, and set custom greeting and footer text. Modify the subject line and header text to reflect your agency's voice. You can add links to your footer text and preview the email template before applying changes. This ensures that all automated reports and notifications appear fully branded with your company identity, not SE Ranking's.
Set Up White-Label Reports
Navigate to the Report Builder section, which is linked from the White Label tab. Select report templates that match your client needs (e.g., Keyword Rank Tracker, Website Audit). Apply your branding to each template by ensuring your logo, colors, and custom domain are reflected in the report output. Configure automated report scheduling by setting frequency (daily, weekly, or monthly) and selecting which clients receive each report. Reports will be sent from your branded SMTP email address configured in the previous step.
Add Client Seats and Customize Access
In the Client Seats or Agency Pack section, add read-only seats for your clients. For each client, customize their tool access by selecting which features they can view (e.g., Rankings, Website Audit, Backlinks). Clients will log in using your custom domain and see only the tools and branding you've configured. This approach maintains security while providing clients with a professional, branded experience that appears to be your proprietary software.
Test and Save All Changes
Before finalizing, preview the customized login page and platform interface to verify all branding elements are correct. Send a test report to your email address to confirm that SMTP configuration and email branding are working properly. Check that your custom domain resolves correctly and that no SE Ranking references appear in the interface or emails. Once you've verified everything, click the Save button at the bottom of the White Label tab. Changes apply instantly to new client sessions.
Common Issues & Troubleshooting
SMTP connection fails with Gmail authentication error
Verify that two-factor authentication is enabled on your Gmail account. Generate an app-specific password in Google Account settings under Security > App passwords, and use that password instead of your main Gmail password. Ensure the SMTP server is set to smtp.gmail.com:587 with TLS encryption.
Custom domain verification fails or times out
Check that your CNAME record is correctly added to your DNS provider with the exact syntax provided by SE Ranking (e.g., seo IN CNAME wl.seranking.com). Use an online DNS checker tool to verify the record is live. DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours; wait and retry verification if it recently failed. Ensure you have DNS editing permissions for your domain.
SE Ranking branding still appears in footer or login page
Return to the White Label tab and verify that footer link toggles are set to remove SE Ranking references. Check that Live Help and Feedback widgets are disabled if you want a fully branded experience. Save changes again and clear your browser cache (Ctrl+Shift+Delete or Cmd+Shift+Delete) before testing.
Clients see different branding than expected or changes don't apply
Ensure you clicked the Save button at the bottom of the White Label tab after making changes. Ask clients to clear their browser cache and log out, then log back in. Changes apply to new sessions, so existing sessions may show old branding until they refresh or log in again.
Automated reports are not sending or arrive with incorrect branding
Verify SMTP configuration by sending a test email from the Email Configuration section. Confirm that the From Email address matches your configured SMTP account. Check that report scheduling is enabled and set to the correct frequency. Review email template customization to ensure your logo and footer text are saved. Check your email spam folder in case reports are being filtered.
