How to add students to courses on Teachable
You can add students to courses on Teachable by navigating to the Students section in your admin dashboard and either manually enrolling them or sending enrollment invitations. This process allows you to grant access to specific courses for individual students.
Prerequisites
- Active Teachable school account
- At least one published course
- Student email addresses
- Admin access to your Teachable school
Step-by-Step Instructions
Access your Teachable admin dashboard
Navigate to the Students section
Add a new student
Enter student details
- Email Address: Enter the student's email address
- First Name: Enter the student's first name
- Last Name: Enter the student's last name (optional)
Select courses for enrollment
Choose enrollment method
- Send invitation email: Student receives an email to create their account and access courses
- Enroll directly: Student is immediately enrolled and can log in with their email
Complete the enrollment
Verify enrollment status
Common Issues & Troubleshooting
Student didn't receive the invitation email
Check that the email address is correct and ask the student to check their spam folder. You can resend invitations by going to Students, finding the student, and clicking Resend Invitation.
Course doesn't appear in the enrollment dropdown
Ensure your course is published and not in draft mode. Go to Courses in your admin dashboard and check that the course status shows as Published.
Student can't access the course after enrollment
Verify the student's enrollment status in the Students section. If they show as 'Invited', they need to complete account activation. If 'Active', check course pricing settings and ensure it's not restricted.
Unable to add multiple students at once
When entering multiple email addresses, separate them with commas and ensure there are no extra spaces. For bulk enrollment of many students, consider using Teachable's CSV import feature in the Students section.
